Is there an antibiotic that is generally considered to be more efficacious in treating hypostatic pneumonia than an infection such as sepsis?

In brief: Pneumonia

The term hypostatic pneumonia refers to infection in static pulmonary secretions in persons lying down for long times.
It does not refer to the microorganism responsible, which would be the issue in choosing an antibiotic. Sepsis is a physiologic condition which may result from any infection, including pneumonia, and again the bug and the drug to kill it must be carefully selected.
