Mononucleosis is an infection caused by epstein barr virus. All three can present with severe sore throat, fever, and other symptoms. Tonsillitis . No way to tell for sure without you having them be examined/ swabbed but sounds like an infection of some sort. Could be a tonsillitis or pharyngitis. Anything that makes it difficult to swallow is worth having it be examined. Read more...
