In brief: Dvt

It is a risk due to immobility but it is not that common

In brief: DVT in leg

Yes. A fracture of a bone in the lower extremity is one of the most common causes of deep venous thrombosis (dvt).
Leg surgery will also do it. Fortunately, in these cases, the likelihood of recurrence is low. There is a high risk of recurrence if the DVT was due to an abnormality of clotting proteins or cancer.

In brief: Known risk

Trauma and immobility are two primary factors leading to development of venous thrombosis.
Age and surgical repair would increase the risk in addition. Diagnosis can be made by ultrasound. First line treatment is with anticoagulation.
