What causes bronchitis?

Two types.... There are 2 types of bronchitis: acute and chronic. Acute bronchitis is due to an infection in the airways, usually either bacterial or viral. Chronic bronchitis is a form of copd, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and is usually due to smoking.
Inflammation. Whether infectious or environmental factors, bronchitis is caused by acute inflammation of the airways that deliver air to your lungs.
