I've got a small, hard, fixed in place lump behind my ear lobe, sort of in line with my mouth. It hurts to touch. Could be a sign of cancer?

In brief: Level II Lymph Node

What you are describing is a level ii lymph node.
These are enlarged when you get a sore throat, and can be enlarged when cancer spreads to them as well. You could also have an infection (that might be red or warm). The fact that it is hard, though, makes it more worrisome for cancer. I would definitely have it checked out.
