Yes. If the molar and surrounding area is infected, an antibiotic should be considered after taking to your dentist. Generally a NSAID like motirin, advil (ibuprofen) or aleve (naproxen) (naprosyn) works better than an opiate. They will increase bleeding somewhat more than a newer NSAID like Celebrex (celecoxib) which doesn't thin the blood. Check with your dentist.Dental extractions don't have to be that painful.
