If the diagnosis is correct and you have a bacterial conjunctivitis then the eye drops should work pretty quickly (24 to 48 hours).
If it is actually a viral conjunctivitis then the antibiotic eyedrops won't help and the illness will just have to run it's course. Sometimes there are other more serious causes for red eyes. If it isn't responding to the antibiotic i recommend a follow up visit.
