Is all protein like meats, seafood and chicken off limits during a gout flare up? I keep hearing conflicting answers. Whats a person left to eat?

In brief: Gout
Avoid seafood, red meat, alcohol/red wine, hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) (type of blood pressure med).
Obesity, Insulin resistance and HTN are risk factor for gout. There is no a simple answer to your question. Noticed i said "avoid" . Do everything in moderation.

In brief: Chicken better
Diet is more important to prevent flares, no to help during flares.
During a flare cherries and copious water are good. Chicken is better than red meat.
