In brief: You don't unless....

If you have kidney stones you need to drink in excess of 8 glasses a day.
If you have no stones you do not need to drink much unless you lose much i.e. Profuse sweating, diarrhea, plying sport, recent vomiting.

Appreciate your comment, however 8 glasses of water a day is only 64 oz, or <2 litres. or 80 mL/hour which is < recommended fluid replaceemnt for anyone on IV fluids. 65 - 80 oz/day is recommended by weight watchers, American Siciety of Speech and Hearing as being optimal for the voice as well as our Departments of Nephrology and Urology.

In brief: Absolutely

That volume of water intake is very healthy.
Good for your kidneys, bladder, skin and voice. Also reduces obesity by reducing calory intake because your stomach is never empty.
