If only 40 oz of water, water intoxication (hyponatremia) is unlikely.
Still, caution is advised. Women, users of nsaids (motrin, aleve, (naproxen) ibuprofen, ), people in relatively poor shape have greatest chance of developing this condition. Usually, if you will develop water intoxication in setting of running long race, symptoms will become apparent very soon after completion of race/ingestion of water.
