In brief: Depends
There are different types of cardiomyopathy.
Some are caused by infections, and others are caused by ischemic (blood flow) insults to the heart, to name a few. Adopting a healthy diet can lower the risk of many types of heart disease, but some types of cardiomyopathy are not significantly impacted by your diet.

In brief: Depends on type
There are many causes of cardiomyopathy.
Ischemic (blood supply problem) generally caused by coronary artery plaques, so healthy diet can reduce risk by lowering cholesterol and inflammation. Other types can be from virus, pregnancy, congenital. A healthy diet certainly doesn't hurt in these cases, but not likely to prevent. Good diet helps more than just heart!
