Freaked out after seeing lipoma removal. Can I get rid of them with weight loss?

In brief: No
Some people are prone to lipoma formation due to genetic issues that are independent of weight gain/loss.
Existing lipomas do not go away with weight loss.

lipomas are completly bening. Your are freacked out because your are not thinking anatomically and not familiar with the anatomy of the body, with the tissue layers. If you see this procedure again, you probably won't feel as bad. Some lipomas are easy to remove (most), other may be inflamed/infected (very rare), or very large.

In brief: Unlikely
Lipomas are benign tumors ( rarely transforms to malignent liposarcomas) .
Normal fat tissue ( adipose tissue) is under body's metabolic control, during starvation, normal fat break down to fatty acids and give energy , where as the tumor are not in metabolic pathway they will not break down, and lipoma is not affected by weight loss.
