Astigmatism & myopia for years, about 3mo ago straight lines started to appear wavy in my left eye. What would cause this? Should I have checked?

In brief: Yes, have exam.

Usually waviness in vision has a potential structural cause.
You wiil need a dilated eye exam so that your retina can be evaluated for structural changes (sdoct). Since you are myopic, you probably have many floaters, which can layer on the retinal lining causing disturbances in vision. Other causes will be be examined too, such as retinal edema, hemorrhage, tears, spectacle correction , etc.
