Everytime I "overuse" my knees esp the left knee, like in running & swimming, I felt pain in my knee. What would probably be it? How can I manage it?

Have knee evaluated. The best way is to have the knee evaluated in order to determine the cause of the pain. It may be an issue than can be corrected fairly easily. See an orthopedist.

PAIN in Knee. If you never ran before and suddenly started running, then it can cause pain in the knees. You did not say how long strech you run and what speed. You should let the knee get better, you can take Motrin or Aleve (naproxen) for the pain. Then start at a slower pace and smaller distance and gradually increase the speed and the distance .I am presuming your knees were normal without any abnormality prior to running. Need evaluation. Pain behind the knee needs clarification. Is it tender to touch? Is there swelling? Have you had an examination, imaging including x-rays, etc having stopped running you need to know why you had to stop. It is wise to stop until clarification but there can be other exercises such as quadriceps exercises that you can do. Since you started running you may have done too much too soon. Read more...

They recommended an asics running shoe for overpronators and the knee pain went away. A local running shoe store can fit you. Read more...

Supplement/OTC. Some good options for general joint pain: try a glucosamine-chondroiten supplement (+/- msm or asu). Can also try an over the counter anti-inflammatory such as Motrin or naprosyn (naproxen). I am also a big proponent of daily stretching especially the hamstrings if you are having knee pain especially around or behind the knee cap. Read more...

Was weeding & kneeling for 15 minutes. When I stood up, can't bear weight on left knee w/out severe front knee pain. Doesn't hurt when sitting. Tips?

Conservative care . Could be an injury to the soft tissue structures within the knee, possibly the meniscus. I would treat with conservative care: rest, ice, and perhaps Aleve (naproxen) or similar product. Hopefully it will resolve in short order. Read more...
