I get a lot of heart thumps, had EKG and showed heart murmur. Doctor didn't prescribe me anything. What can I do to get rid of the thumps?

ECG . Ecg does not show heart murmur. Murmur is sound. Your thumps are likely palpitations caused by benign extra heart beats which don't require treatment, just reassurance. Talk with your dr. And ask for an explanation.

My doctor heard what she called a "slight heart murmur" and did a ekg which was normal. Now she's ordered me an Ecg and im so nervous! Whats the diffe?

Echocardiography . Echo is ultrasound to visualize the heart valves and structure and further analyze the cause of murmur. EKG is does not visualize the heart but only analyze the heart rhythm and cannot diagnose the source of a murmer. Don't worry as hearing a murmer does not always mean a heart disease as some murmers are physiologic i.e normal . Good luck with the echo. Read more...

I get a lot of heart thumps and feel as if everything affects it. Did EKG and was fine except for heart murmur. What could be wrong I have low iron?

Ecg. Ecg records electrical activity not sound. A murmur is sound produced by cardiac activity. If ECG is normal that's great. If you also had normal echocardiogram then chances are your heart is fine. Low iron can cause palpitations if it causes anemia. Read more...

A . A heart murmur is just a sound we hear when we listen to someone's heart. Sometimes this is a sound made by blood flowing through a hole in the heart or a leaky valve, sometimes it is just the sound of normal blood flow. Often, doctors can tell whether the murmur is concerning just by how it sounds. 50% of kids at some point will have a heart murmur - usually it is just because their chests are so much thinner than adults that you can actually hear the normal blood flow. She may or may not grow out of it, but if she has a normal heart - it doesn't matter. It's just a sound that can indicate a problem, but not a problem in and of itself. If you have any other questions, you should give her doctor a call. Read more...
Likely normal. Having a heart murmur means that when the heart beats, there is enough energy in the blood flow that some of the energy is transformed into sound. In a six year old, most likely this is a normal murmur and not a murmur caused by a heart problem. An experienced listener can hear differences in the sound that predict whether the murmur is normal. Children typically have normal murmurs. Read more...

My EKG reading was 54, could that be the beginning of bradychardia? My mom has a slow heart beat and a heart murmur. I'm concerned I will get a murmur

Bradycardia. Bradycardia in a person who is physically very active is normal. If you are performing aerobic exercise on a regular basis, do not worry about a heart rate of 54 bpm. A heart murmur can be benign, albeit if you develop it later in life, you need to be evaluated; however, there is very little correlation between bradycardia and a heart murmur (far-fetched correlations exist however).
