Is there an age in which drug addiction will cause the most problems?

In brief: <25 years
We haven't found any statistically significant way to predict a person's success in recovery from addiction, although certain activities seem to increase your odds at any age: things like compliance with medications, having a support group, avoiding triggers, etc.
Generally, addiction that occurs before the brain is fully developed (age 22 in women, 25 in men) tends to have a worse prognosis.

Expanding on Dr. Cabot's comments re med compliance, many struggling with addiction have untreated mental health problems--anxiety, depression, insecurity, etc. Getting a brief "break" from those awful feelings thru whatever mood alteration the drugs bring can be enough to keep one coming back to that "solution." Treating the problem proves the odds that you can stay clean, sober , & happier.

In brief: It always is a probl
People whether young or old can do serious damage I have seen young people on a vegetative state due to overdosing, and pregnant moms giving birth to drug withdrawal in babies and middle aged and higher population having issues with addiction.
So it is a serious problem to health and wellness no matter what age - it puts life on a pause button - watch the movie - "click" it captures life going on.

In brief: Early age onset
Drug addiction starting in early adolescence seems to have longer lasting and more hard to treat version.
This is a time when your brain is maturing and drugs interfere with the development of complex psychological and physical changes.
