In brief: Stretch; avoid hills

I'm not sure exactly of your question but to avoid patellar and it band tendinitis make sure you take time to stretch before and after u run.
Esp. The hamstring tendons and it band( back and outside of knee).Avoid hills if possible and use ice massage to your tender areas after a run. Consider trying a NSAID also. If no improvement w/ above.... Rest and cross train ( bicycle , swimming, elliptical.
