In brief: I do not think so
The goals of treatment are to reduce inflammation and to control pain.
To accomplish these goals, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents (nsaids) are used, with Ibuprofen usually selected as the drug of choice. Additional treatment, moist heat, and steroid injection.Thank you.

In brief: Usually
True costochondritis will sometimes resolve with conservative management but on occasion an injection of simple Lidocaine will do the trick.
