Is losartan hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) same as valsartan hctz (hydrochlorothiazide)?

Drug choices. Both losartan (l) and valsartan (v) are drug of the angiotensin receptor blocker class. Both have few side effects and reduce BP and proteinuria quite well. L should be given twice a day and v can be given once daily for maximum their maximum effect.
Combo. Both drugs are relatives. And work similarly. They are not exactly the same but do the same things.

I have hypertension and this weekend for some reason, it's shot back up to stage 2. Is there anything in Tang that interferes with Valsartan Hctz (hydrochlorothiazide)?

No .... The list of ingredients for Tang includes sugar, citric acid, vitamin C, maltodextrin, calcium phosphate, guar and xanthan gums, sodium acid pyrophosphate and some coloring. Nothing that should affect blood pressure. Blood pressure does vary normally so just keep monitoring every day or two, and keep taking your medication. If it stays above 140/90 for two weeks, contact your doctor. Good wishes. Read more...

What are the differences between losarta hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) and losartan potassium?

A combo pill vs. ARB. Losartan HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide) (= Hyzaar) is a combination pill that contains both losartan (angiotensin receptor blocker) and a diuretic (hydrocholorthiazide)--"water pill"-- whereas Loasartan potassium does not contain the diuretic. Read more...

My dr prescribed 50 mg of losartan and 25 mg of hctz (hydrochlorothiazide). is this a normal combination?

Very normal. Sure is. Like peanut butter and jelly. Peas and carrots. Hugs and kisses. That combination is effective, safe, and used very commonly because the losartan helps cancel a troublesome side effect of hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) (potassium wasting) and hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) potentiates the effect of losartan. Arbs and ace-is. losartan is what is known as an ARB, a medication that works on the kidneys to help control blood pressure. are you checking your pressure to make sure that a low BP is not causing your tiredness? if BP is normal, then there are a host of other "ARBs" that could be prescribed. their cousins, ACE-Is (a lot of medicines that end in "pril", "lisinopril" is one example) work on same system. Now on non-gmo diet, BP dropped to 98/74. Doc suggested to drop hctz (hydrochlorothiazide). I did, still low so dropped losartan. Now 126/78. Connection between gmo and bp?

No proof yet. But your experience is interesting. You could test it further if you would be willing to add back gmo temporarily and see if high BP returns. You can always stop them again. Did you also lose weight? Read more...

What do you suggest if my dr prescribed 50 mg of losartan and 25 mg of hctz (hydrochlorothiazide). is this normal?

BP medications. Your mother's doctor has diagnosed her with hypertension and started her on losartan, which is a BP medicine along with HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide) that is a diuretic. HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide) also lowers BP. I suggest that nothing needs to be done, as this is a normal way to treat high BP. Read more...
