In brief: A variety of ways
The type and organ involvement of the lupus can be important.
Year ago people with lupus were advised not to get pregnant. Now we know people with lupus can have great pregnancy outcomes. There is a risk of miscarriage, preterm delivery, lupus flares, hypertension especially with kidney invovlement and smoking. You will need to be evaluated for your lupus risks before pregnancy.

In brief: Both Mother and chil
Mothers should not try to conceive until their is in relative remission.
The reason is that flares are likely in late pregnancy. Anticardiolipin antibodies can cause miscarriage if not treated. That said, most women can conceive and carry to term.
