Flu like symptoms after flu vaccine. Is this contagious?

Depends. If you had the nasal product this is a living virus and you could pass the "vaccine strain" to others. This might produce mild or no symptoms if passed. There is no way that you get or pass the injectable flu vaccine. It is a dead virus. If you had symptoms it is due to a reaction to getting the vaccine, not a flu.

Is it true that the flu shot has a lot of mercury in it? Also, any chance it can give you flu like symptoms or the actual flu?

Flu vaccine . Thimerosal is a mercury-based preservative. Some vaccines produced in multi-dose vials, have thimerosal to protect against contamination of the vial. Single-dose units are without thimerosal, because they are opened and used only once. The nasal spray vaccine, is also in single-dose units and doesn't have thimerosal. See doctor. Did doctor do a rapid influenza test? Although they are not always accurate, if it is +, he might benefit from tamiflu, (oseltamivir) if he's been sick under 48 hrs. Also, why is he on an antibiotic? They don't help viral illnesses like influenza. If he has a bacterial infection, is on the right antibiotic, the infection may be spreading. Doctor would need to modify treatment. Read more...
