In brief: Usually asymptomatic

After a folicle releases an egg it begins to secrete estrogen & Progesterone & is called a corpus luteum.
However, it can sometimes become a cyst filled with fluid or blood on/in the ovary. This is a corpus luteum cyst.

In brief: Post-ovulation

A follicle forms in the ovary from which an ovum is discharged in mid-cycle.
A cyst often forms at the site during the second half or the period or if the woman becomes pregnant.
