In brief: Tongue bruise
I know personally that you can badly lacerate your tongue from biting.
The tongue is mostly muscle and usually repairs itself when cut. I did check with an ENT doc and he told me that in rare cases patients who cut their tongue may develop some scarring.

Dermatology
In brief: Bruised tongue
A tongue could become bruised due to both intentional and unintentional biting.
It may also be amalgam tattoos because of dental fillings, if you have them.
