1 doctor agrees

In brief: It depends

The acute gout pain can be treated with an NSAID such as Indomethacin or Naproxen if you kidney and heart function are normal.
Colcrys (colchicine) can also be effective. Sometimes your doctor can drain and inject a steroid medication into your knees. Consider seeing your doctor.

In brief: Gout

First, see your pcp or rheumatologist ! family history of gout ? Personal history of gout ? Drink lots of water. Try a couple glasses of black cherry juice for the next few days.
Diminish intake of high protein foods- red meats organ foods, shellfish, etc... Diminish alcohol intake. Watch drinks like sodas. Taking any diuretics for bp...? Your doc will draw blood and monitor urine for 24 h !
