In brief: A panel
Liver has a large number of functions, some tests show liver damage and others assess liver function: the short names of some of the tests are: alt, ast, ggt, alk phase, biirubin-direct and total, albumin, inr, Alpha feto protein.
A panel of testing for hepatitis is also available. Additional tests are done depending on the results of the initial panel and suspected diagnosis.

SGPT of 66 is slightly elevated. If you drink alcohol, stop entirely and repeat the test in 3-4 months. It may also be due to some medication you are taking and you should discuss all of your medications, including over the counter ones and herbals, with your doctor. If you are overweight, losing weight would help.
