In brief: Shingles Pain
Shingles, or herpes zoster, is a viral infection of a nerve caused by the varizella zoster virus.
It is most common in people over 60 years of age. Most people have little or no pain, that lasts only a few weeks. Some people, mostly over 65, can have severe pain, that is unbearable. For minor pain, take Aspirin or motrin, use capsaicin cream and apply heat or cold, which ever feels better.
