In brief: Could be nerves

Burning is usually a neuropathic pain.
He is right to say nothing wrong but that doesn't help you with your symptoms. You may need to see a pain specialist to try and inject the incision and see if this helps.

In brief: Post Op

It is common, especially in the inguinal area, to pull or irritate the mesh or scar tissue from a previous hernia repair.
This sensation should ease over the next few days.
