In brief: Follow up Check

The tooth which had a root canal may be experiencing pain from a variety of causes.
If the nerve tissue was incompletely obturated or if the tooth has fractured (prior to a build-up filling and crown placement)- then you could be experiencing the pain you've described. However, it is quite difficult to make an assumption without inspection or radiographs. See your dentist for a follow-up.

In brief: See a dentist ASAP

Depending upon the severity and type of pain, i would see the dr. Who treated and performed the root canal if possible.
The source of your issue may be a cracked tooth or root, or a re-infection of the roots or gum tissue.
