In brief: Moderation
In moderation, alcohol can be safe in patients with lupus but certain medications used for lupus may make it unsafe.
The caveat is that alcohol has many problems if taken in excess, if taken before driving, if taken while pregnant, etc. The list goes on. However, having lupus is not an absolute contraindication to alcohol.
