I'm 7 weeks pregnant. What causes fetal heart rate to drop from 122 BPM to 81 BPM in two days after pregnancy looked great?

Hard to say. This question is difficult to answer, because we aren't typically measuring the fetal heartbeat over extended periods of time at this gestational age. Possible technical error . There's not much to do ---> continue to watch the pregnancy. It's normal for fetuses to have cyclic drops in their heartbeat. You may want to consider closer following and possibly an echocardiogram later in pregnancy. Read more...

What is the percentage of having a successful VBAC after 1 c-sec no complications with 1st pregnancy. C-sec due to non reassuring fetal heart rate?

Almost. the same as before. Since the first cs was for heart tones and not failure to progress, you should have a 80 +\- percent chance of having a successful vaginal delivery. Find an OB who has a low CS rate. Not total CS but For a woman's first CS. My primary rate is 14 percent. That means for a woman with no prior CS, she has an 86 percent chance of a vag delivery. Good luck. . Read more...

D/w your doctor . Follow up with your doctor/ob- you need to have your iron and folate (folic acid) level checked and if they are low- definitely need to get replacement. Your thyroid medication dose may also need to be adjusted down slightly. Also, you need to take prenatal multivitamin one a day. I don't know what is inside the macal vip- but i assume it is vit c mainly. Discuss further with your ob. Read more...

If I took indoethacin in my last weeks of pregnancy, should the fetal heart rate be monitored on a daily basis?

Depends. Indomethacin taken frequently over a long period of time can cause a transient change in the fetal heart circulation (in doctor speak it closes the ductus arteriosus). Small doses for only a few days, which is usually the only thing we would do, is not particularly dangerous. Check with your doctor on why you are taking it and whether monitoring is needed. I'm 5 weeks, 3 days pregnant and an ultrasound showed a fetal heart rate of 104, which the technician said was low. Should I be concerned? Thank you.

Fetal heart. The normal fetal heart rate is considered 120-160, but lower rates above 100 can be normal. A very low heart rate on an ultrasound at 5-6 weeks is worrisome for an impending miscarriage. There is nothing you or your doctor can do about this. The best thing for you to do would be to get weekly ultrasounds for the next 3-4 weeks to make sure the pregnancy is progressing normally. What is the association between low fetal heart rate and slow growth?

Thyroid disorders. The proper answer to your question is that typically the baseline fetal heart rate does not correlate with fetal growth. Rare scenarios where this general statement would not be accurate include severe maternal hypothyroidism or excessive intake of antithyroid medications in hyperthyroid women that subsequently affect the fetus and its growth curves.
