Wake up gasping for air & shortness of breath sometimes during the day. Recently feels alone and nothing is right. Heart failure or anxiety?

Possibly sleep apnea. First rule out sleep apnea as this is very common and could be causing your symptoms. It could very easily be anxiety as well. You should start by seeing your primary care doctor.
Could be either. Can't tell without examination, so see a doctor. Non-specific symptoms can be only sign of congestive heart failure and hypoxemia.

I'll bet so. Perhaps a treatable cause for his deteriorating cardiac status can be found. I'm glad you're writing on his behalf, and I hope you will have more good times with him, for however much longer he may have. Read more...

Years ago LVH from Adriamyacin. Diagnosed with diastolic dysfunction. Chest heaviness and shortness of breath now much worse is this heart failure?

Possibly. This may be from congestive heart failure, although the term does not mean that your heart is going to stop anytime soon. There are certainly ways to treat CHF, if that is what this is. You should be seeing your regular doctor and probably a cardiologist regularly at this point. Good luck. Read more...

Can heart failure be cause by a mild to moderate hit to the chest in a football game. I got a chest xRay that is clear. Ihave slight shortness of breath?

Unlikely. That would not be a mechanism for heart failure. At the worst, you could get a pulmonary or cardiac contusion, which would cause pain and shortness of breath, but I would think that would need to be quite a severe shot to the chest to cause that - not a mild to moderate one. Usually you'd have rib fractures with that type of impact. If it persists, get to ED right away. Read more...
Not likely. Extremely unlikely- would seek out other causes for your shortness of breath. Read more...

Can fludrocortisone dilute blood too much and cause shortness of breath without causing pulmonary oedema or heart failure?

Unlikely. Fludrocortisone is more likely to cause electrolyte changes or changes in glucose metabolism. Vascular volume changes significant enough to cause dilutional anemia (to the extent that oxygen delivery is affected) or congestive heart failure (if not already significantly predisposed) would not be likely. Notify the prescribing physician so appropriate follow up is arranged. Good luck! Read more...
