In brief: Unsure

this abdominal defect is not a frequent occurrence, about one:4000 live births.
It is associated with other birth defects such as heart, brain, or kidney.

There are degrees of omphalocoele. Best to see Pediatric PS or GS.

In brief: fail to return

By 11 wk abdominal contents return to inside abdomen, failure will result omphalocele, unlike gastrochesis will have sac , abdo.
Wall defect is not that significant , most of the time due to genetic defects or failure of programmed signals , environmental , inadequate prenatal care, etc, and some times unknown , don't worry baby will be fine.

In brief: Unknown

An omphalocele is a congenital abdominal wall defect (defect that the baby is born with).
Cause is unknown. Most will need surgery to repair.

In brief: Congenital Defect

Omphalocele or umbilical hernia usually disappear before age 5 .
Surgical repair is done if protrusion is persistent or complication of obstruction occurs.
