The doctor prescribed protonix can I use nexium (esomeprazole)?

Proton pump inhibito. If you have been given an RX for protonic and already have Nexium (esomeprazole) at home I see no reason not to take the Nexium (esomeprazole). Now if the Nexium (esomeprazole) is some one else's then you need to use what is prescribed for you.

I have had erosive gastritis for 2 years now despite being treated with Protonix and Nexium (esomeprazole). WHY?

H. Pylori infection. Have you been scoped & if so, was a biopsy obtained? If not, it's still reasonable to argue that you have a bacterial infection of your stomach lining. At this point, an empiric triple or even quadruple therapy protocol is warranted (PPI + clarithromycin (or amoxicillin) + metronidazole + bismuth salicylate) x2 weeks. This could be managed by a Family Doc or PCP; no need to see gastroenterologist. Read more...

Diagnosed with hiatus hernia. Have taken all OTC meds, protonix, and nexium (esomeprazole). None were helpful. What other options are there?

Repair . There is always the option of surgical repair of a hiatal hernia, but usually these are small, and not the cause of the problem. It also depends on what the problem is - reflux symptoms, or difficulty swallowing, or anemia, or chest pain and weight loss. Latter symptoms are usually due to large hernias, known as paraesophageal hernias. Hope this helps! Read more...

Duration&dosage of treatment of nonerosive reflux esophagitis? Have taken protonix 2x20MG for a month, still feeling acid, want to switch to Nexium (esomeprazole).

May be warranted. If you were diagnosed with nonerosive esophagitis and protonix does not seem to be taking care of the symptoms after taking it regularly for a month, it may be appropriate to switch to a different PPI such as Nexium (esomeprazole). I would recommend continuing antireflux measures and returning to see your gastroenterologist. Good luck. Read more...

Taken Nexium, (esomeprazole) generic Nexium, (esomeprazole) and Protonix which cause drowsiness. Would it be worth taking Prevacid or Prilosec? Will tired feeling go away with time

Doubtful. None of the actions of any of these drugs would have anything to do with drowsiness. That is a very uncommon side effect of any of them. BUT Prilosec is well known to gum up the liver's ability to get other drugs out of you including all sedatives including alcohol.... so .. that one is doubly out. Otherwise, while I cannot explain why these drugs do that on you, the entire group is similar. Read more...

What can I do if my doctor prescribed Nexium (esomeprazole) for acid reflux, but I really hate taking drugs. Any suggestions?

Nexium (esomeprazole) a great med. Can certainly try bland diet & avoid acid containg or producing foods & beverages & raise head of your bed. Avoid smoking, caffeine containing beverages, fried & fatty foods. May still have acid reflux & get tired of this boring diet. Life may well be much pleasanter taking a Nexium (esomeprazole) pill & think of it as a food suppliment. Good luck. Read more...
