In brief: Strep throat

Hello, to have an infection in one area and not another would require a physical barrier for bacteria to be contained.
In the throat, there us no such barrier. The bacteria live in a moist medium so the bacteria would be dispersed throughout. A culture may come back positive on one side but not the other. That doesn't mean the infection only exists on one side.
