Question not clear. It seems your question was cut off, or at least it is not clear. Kids with a cleft uvula can have an unseen v-shaped cleft buried in the palate. It has little significance long term.In the short term these kids are somewhat more likely to have recurrent middle ear fluid and infections from Eustachian tube dysfunction. What is the connection between cleft lip and palate and ear infections? My child was born with a cleft lip and palate. He often gets ear infections, and he has actually experienced some hearing loss because of them. Why do children with cleft palates get

It . It is thought that children with cleft palate also do not have the proper mechanism for clearing the eustachean tube- the tube that communicates your ear with your throat that allows you to clear your ears when on an airplane. This tube can get easily occluded in cleft palate children and lead to inner ear infections. Read more...

Mechanics. There is a muscle that straightens the Eustachian tube that drains mucus from the middle ear. This levator palitini muscle is not in the right position with CL/P so it does not function as well. This along with other feeding/swallowing issues makes these kids more prone to ear infections until their head grows larger. Many CP teams will place tubes during the initial surgery as part of overall Rx. Read more...

I've had an ear infection for two weeks, I do have hidrandenitis suppurativa how can I get rid of it as an adult? Inside of ear is highly swollen?

Need to see ENT. Your hidradenitis is not likely related to your ear infection. Your infection is a separate issue. You need to see your regular doctor for treatment or preferably an ENT doctor. It sounds like you might have an outer ear infection, but there can be other types of problems affecting the outer ear. Need to get checked and treated. For the hidradenitis, seek treatment with a general surgeon. There are some new treatments available, but this is not my area of expertise. Read more...
