How do doctors know when an ACL reconstruction is completely healed?

ACL Healing. Acl healing is based on xrays in some cases (to see if the bone plug has healed), knowledge of the time it takes for the biology of healing and your strength. Most doctors will not allow you to return to sports until you have regained your strength to help protect the acl. Some will even make you pass a "sports test" or functional strength assessment.
Time from op./exam. Generally time from the surgery and a good examination will be able to tell if an acl reconstructed patient is healed. Some graft choices(allograft)take a bit longer to heal than others.

Any knee doctor who performs double-bundle ACL reconstruction in seattle area?

Probably. There are many surgeons that perform double bundle acl reconstructions. However, since there are many ways to perform them, we do not know which method is better, or whether it is any better than an anatomic acl. Perhaps a better question is whether a double bundle acl reconstruction is right for you. I perform both, but i still question whether it is better. I am in los angeles though. Read more...

Did you injure? Acl disruptions are typically related to an acute injury. These injuries do not have to be contact injury, in fact, they are often non-contact: athlete running and making a quick cut / deceleration (sudden stop). In a rare case you will hear of someone born without an intact ligament. So if you feel unstable see sports doctor for evaluation but w/o injury doubt acl tear. Read more...
