In brief: Not with proper care

Improvements in medications for seizure control and better means of monitoring the unborn baby have allowed more pregnancies complicated by seizures to be less ominous.
Since there are different types of seizures, not one medicine fits every case. An experienced obstetrician trained for high risk pregnancies usually with the aid of a neurologist should be able to safely manage this situation.

In brief: Hopefully no!!

There are no absolutely safe anticonvulsants, however there are some that are associated with a lower risk of birth defects.
Most of the birth defect risk occurs during the first trimester. Your seizure medications are tailored to your seizure type. Your neurologist is your best resource for discussing medications, pregnancy and fetal risk. This talk should have occurred before you became pregnant.
