Lap Band surgery: If you're already planning lap band surgery, your surgeon should have educated you on the procedure. Geodon (ziprasidone) varies: In its ability to act as a sedative. Some people take it and it actually keeps them awake. It is very unpredictable in this regard. Taken off seroquel i was put on zyprexa for sleep 5mg today its not making me sleepy was on geodon (ziprasidone) taken off told was bad for me should try sleep doc?
Insomnia: I see that you've already had a sleep study and if that was negative i think your best bet would be to continue looking at other options for sleep other than antipsychotic options. If you have not tried trazodone, you should, another option would be low-dose doxepin. If you tried both of those then i think seeing the sleep doctor would be warranted. There may have been something that was missed the first time around. If you have ptsd you should give Minipress (prazosin) a try. Sleep hygiene is also very important. ...Read more

I am being taken off seroquel (quetiapine) it makes me tired during the day put on 5mg zyprexa was told doesn't do that thats too low what are doses for it?
5-30 mg per day: It really depends upon what your underlying condition is. The dosage ranges generally from 5 to 30 mg a day. A lot will depend upon how much sedation you need to get adequate sleep for your psychiatric condition. Please be aware that if you gain weight within the first two weeks of treatment that the weight gain is likely to continue and therefore the medication will need to stop as directed by your psychiatrist. You also need to be tested for diabetes, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, increase in abdominal girth, andtardiva dyskinesia as well as akathisia.Ask your psychiatrist about these side effects. Say I have the equivalent dosage of seroquel & zyprexa. Would seroquel be a weaker antipsychotic compared to zyprexa if they are around the same dose?
Depends: Great question, tough to say definitively because there's a few things to consider. Clinical efficacy depends more on the individual. Some people respond better to some drugs than others, despite them being in the same sub-class. Likewise, some people have a greater risk for side effects from one med compared to another. Both aspects are usually dose related. Hope this helps ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers

How long will it take for 100mg seroquel (quetiapine) to be out of my body? Stopped taking thursday making nightmares more intense weight gain now on 5mg zyprexa
Reg. or XR? Dx's ??: Seroquel (quetiapine) reg. Half-life is 6-7 hours and xr is 7-12 hours. The half life means if you take 100mg, the time it takes for approximately half the dose to remain in your system. This assumes no liver or kidney problems or interactions with other medications which may speed up or slow down the process. Thus in 6-12 hours 50mg, then 25mg, etc. Do nothing w/o dr.
