Taking 225mg Effexor&Clonazepam 4 Major Dep Dis&anxiety&paranoid thoughts. Had Olanzapine&Respiridone before but is Abilify (aripiprazole) ok2take with Effexor?

Abilify (aripiprazole): It appears that you are also experiencing paranoid thoughts, and have been treated for depression. At the same time, if your doctor prescribes the Abilify (aripiprazole), (aripiprazole) with or without the Clonazepam, there is no contraindication. The Abilify (aripiprazole) might also augment the Effexor as an antidepressant, which is another advantage for this recommendation. ...Read more

I'm stopping Lexapro (escitalopram) 10 mg after taking it for three days. My doctor wants me to start Zyprexa and Klonopin. When is it safe to start?

Ask that Dr.: If the doctor prescribing can't answer that for you - you need to see a different doctor. You want yours to be responsible to you regarding these things. So, return for a clear decision on how to make this switch safely and effectively. Make this a general practice! Best wishes. ...Read more

Friend takes 2000 depakote/20 zyprexa/4 mg klonopin/15 abilify (aripiprazole). For bipolar schitzophrena. Does this seem like a heavy regime. Always craves chocolates?

Zyprexa, Abilify (aripiprazole): And Depakote and all cause stimulation. It's difficult to say what is overkill when it comes to a polypharmacy situation with someone with bipolar schizoaffective disorder. The use of two antipsychotics is indeed sometimes necessary. However, great attention should also be paid to the weight issues. If the weight gain is on going then perhaps a different medication will need to be tried, but all of that will need to be left up to of the prescribing psychiatrist. Best wishes and I hope that you are not freezing as badly in madison as we are here in racine. ...Read more

Can zyprexa (olanzapine) be use solely for insomnia?

Can zyprexa (olanzapine) be use solely for insomnia?

Overkill?: Zyprexa (olanzapine) is a potent medication that has some potentially serious side effects in long term use (diabetes, weight gain, among others) so I would wonder if this is really the right medication. But of course I don't know the details of other things tried, other conditions (like bipolar) that might make insomnia more worrisome, etcetera. ...Read more

What is the treatment for zyprexa (olanzapine) overdose?

Depends: The treatment for a zyprexa (olanzapine) overdose will vary. If the zyprexa (olanzapine) overdose was recent, may give certain medicines or place a tube into the stomach to "pump the stomach." however, once zyprexa (olanzapine) has been absorbed into the body, there is no treatment that can remove it quickly. Therefore, in these cases, treatment involves supportive care, which consists of treating the symptoms. ...Read more

How can I get past the sedative effects of zyprexa (olanzapine)?

A Few Tips: Here are a few "tips" that I find helpful when a patient of mine struggles with the sedating side effect of zyprexa (generic olanzapine). If you have just started treatment be patient and the sedation may resolve on its own. Try different dosing times to see if the sedation can occur while asleep. Split the dose taking half in am & half in pm. Always check with your md before making any changes. ...Read more

Can I take both strattera (atomoxetine) and zyprexa (olanzapine) at the same time?

Presumably: This is a complicated question. Zyprexa is an antipsychotic medication which might be considered for behavioral problems while strattera (atomoxetine) is for concentration issues. They might work counter to each other but I would not presume to know why this combo is chosen. Zyprexa tends to cause wt gain & sedation so take in pm while strattera (atomoxetine) causes wt loss and insomnia take in am. Discuss w. Prescriber. ...Read more

Sort of: They both are atypical antipsychotics. However, they block different sets of receptors and they have rather different side effect profiles.
