Body Image?: Take a moment to think about your body image. Is your body mass index really low? In addition, if you lost weight due to a depression, it should increase again once the depression is adequately treated. You may fare better with a focus on wellness than on any exact number in terms of weight. A consultation with a nutritionist may be valuable. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Gastric lavage: The treatment for a zoloft (sertraline) overdose will vary. This type of care consists of treating the symptoms that occur as a result of the overdose. ...Read more
What is an alternative treatment to Zoloft (sertraline)? I don't want anything addictive but I just don't like the side effects of zoloft (sertraline)
Diagnosis trumps med: Meaning it is important to know what you are trying to treat. Zoloft (sertraline) like medications (known as SSRI type meds) can be part of helping treat depression, anxiety, and other psychiatric issues. Therapy can be very effective in helping with many of the same issues. There are many different types of meds and non-medication interventions that can help with such issues. Discuss with your provider. ...Read more

Can I wean off of Effexor (venlafaxine) XR 35mg, and take Zoloft 25mg at the same time, so there is no lapse in treatment? And how long until Zoloft starts working?
Yes, if doc agrees: always discuss your plan of care with ur doc. it's most common 4 docs 2 recommend that patients reduce the dose of one med while they transition on to a new one, for the reason u mentioned -- no lapse. docs call this a "cross taper". Unclear how long it will take for zoloft (sertraline) to work. some pts feel btr in just a few days, while others may need up to 8 wks on the right dose. ring ur doc to discuss :) ...Read more

A week ago i took 3500mg of zoloft, (sertraline) and didn't seek treatment. I still have dizziness, skin tingling, confusion, sore muscles. Damage?
Get treatment: If that's not a typo, the fact that you took an overdose indicates that something is seriously wrong. The fact that you didn't immediately seek medical attention also indicates that something is very wrong. If it was a suicide attempt, you need to be under the care of a mental health professional now. If you haven't already, see a psychologist or psychiatrist and get treatment. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
