Does the risk of Zoloft during pregnancy increase as the mg are increased? Is there a safe dose that is greater than 50 mg?
No: To my knowledge, the risks of exposure to a ssri in pregnancy are not dose dependent. 50mg is starting dose for many women. If your doctor recommends you go to 75 or 100mg that should be fine. You can consult. If your psychiatrist is prescribing for you, make sure to discuss with your obstetrician so both physicians are on board with the plan for you. Most docs will rx lowest dose for symptom. ...Read more

Meds & Pregnancy: The fda rates Klonopin as a category d for safety in pregnancy; zoloft is a category c. Klonopin has been associated with some fetal malformations, but this is not consistent. What are some possible side affects to the baby when you take Zoloft 150mil during entire pregnancy?
Minimal: The side effects of ssris like zoloft on an infant exposed in utero are very rare and almost non-existent. Some infants have developed pulmonary hypertension but it is more common with Paxil and Effexor than zoloft, and even then it is very rare. Be aware that depression itself can also have a negative impact to the baby and that has to be weighed against the risk of the medication. ...Read more
At what point do benefits out weigh risks of Zoloft in pregnancy? I need it, but am very hesitant to take it. I'm 13 weeks 3 days. Is it safe?

The ssri-type antidepressants have been pretty safe when used during pregnancy so, if you're prone to suicidal ideation or neglecting taking good care of yourself, go ahead and get back on what has worked for you in the past. The further you get past organogenesis in the first trimester, generally, lowers the risk of some drug complication. ...Read more
