Zoloft No Appetite
Paxil (paroxetine) 30mgs for 4mos. Switched to Zoloft 1wk ago. No taper. High anxiety, crying, nauseous, no appetite, trouble sleeping. Is this Paxil (paroxetine) withdrawal?
Yes: Paxil (paroxetine) is an ssri antidepressant with a short half life of about a day. You can certainly experience withdrawal from the med, if it is stopped abruptly. Zoloft is an ssri as well and it can help alleviate the withdrawal, but it should be at an adequate dose. You should speak to your physician about your symptoms. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Taking liquid Zoloft (sertraline) for two weeks w/buspar, still feel loss of appetite and losing some wght. Anxiety is not as bad. Is no appetite normal?
No appetite: No, it's more normal to have some appetite. You and your doctor may need to increase your zoloft (sertraline) dose, since loss of appetite can be part of depression. Zoloft (sertraline) also requires at least 4-6 weeks therapeutic dosing for effectiveness. Work with your doctor on this, and please consider adding psychotherapy also. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
D/c remeron (mirtazapine) due weight gain & blood sugars. What med helps digestive issues, constant nausea & no appetite. Remeron (mirtazapine) didn't help anxiety but 5htp does.
Could be: Some people feel sedated upon initiating zoloft (sertraline) or lithium. Increased appetite and about 15 pound weight gain are common with lithium, but rare with zoloft (sertraline). If there is weight gain with zoloft (sertraline), it tends to occur later on in treatment, about six months to a year in treatment. While on lithium your thyroid should be periodically checked to make sure hypothyroidism does not set in which can cause fatigue and weight gain. Please make sure that you discuss all of these issues with your psychiatrist at the next appointment. Best wishes. ...Read more
Does Zoloft (sertraline) cause weight gain? Are there any interactions with Zoloft (sertraline) and st. John's wort?
Probaly Not: There is no strong association between zoloft (sertraline) and weight gain but depression can cause loss of appetite and treatment may cause it to return. Do not take st. Johns wort, its affects are additive to zoloft (sertraline) and might cause a condition called serotonin syndrome or neuroleptic malignant syndrome. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Stay Hopeful: Appetite issues are common in Depression and Anxiety disorders. 4 days is too soon to say if effexor (venlafaxine) is working. You have to give it a few weeks. Make sure you are getting adequate nutrition even if you're not that hungry. Try to use nutrition drinks and bars. ...Read more
No appetite , no sleep, weight loss fast, have energy, no disiness, some shortness of breath, no other pain. What's going on?
Just started Zoloft (sertraline) - anger for no reason and increased anxiety? Initial side effects?
Watch carefully!: While it is possible that those side effects may disappear, it's usually a reason to make a turn-about and find other approaches to your depressive symptoms - including psychotherapy. These are not uncommon and in young men, they may be especially worrying. Definitely tell your provider and ask for alternatives to consider - especially if it doesn't change very, very soon. ...Read more
Lymphoma? Had diarrhea and no appetite x4weeks lost 10lb. Doc put me on amitriptyline 10mg. Thought anxiety and depression. Appetite is back. No more weight loss, no gain either. Intestinal lymphoma?
Doubtful: It is doubtful that you have an intestinal lymphoma. The main thing is that your weight has stabilized. Your doctor was probably correct his diagnosis of depression and anxiety as both of those can cause the symptoms that led to your weight loss. Overtime your weight will likely return unless of course you diet. Keep in touch with your family doctor if you develop any further symptoms so that you could be evaluated further if necessary. The likelihood of an intestinal lymphoma is exceedingly low. Enjoy your holidays. Best wishes. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Unlikely, but....: Each person can be very different. Lists of common effects don't mean they'll happen - certainly not all! And a decrease is what some report. But you may be different. Discuss it w/ your Dr. It's probably unrelated and you might be able to resist it w/ some CBT therapy skills aimed at eating issues. Best! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Sometimes: Wellbutrin does not generally cause weight gain (and is often used specifically because it doesn't), although rarely it might cause weight gain. Prozac is somewhat more likely than wellbutrin to cause weight gain, but again generally does not. Taking 225mg Effexor&Clonazepam 4 Major Dep Dis&anxiety¶noid thoughts. Had Olanzapine&Respiridone before but is Abilify (aripiprazole) ok2take with Effexor?
Abilify (aripiprazole): It appears that you are also experiencing paranoid thoughts, and have been treated for depression. At the same time, if your doctor prescribes the Abilify (aripiprazole), (aripiprazole) with or without the Clonazepam, there is no contraindication. The Abilify (aripiprazole) might also augment the Effexor as an antidepressant, which is another advantage for this recommendation. ...Read more
