Zoloft Morning Or Night
Usually at night: Usually zoloft (sertraline) is calming and facilitates sleep even though it isn't a sleep aid. But a minority of people feel more awake and can't sleep after taking it. They need to take it in the morning. So, start out by taking it at night and, if it keeps you up, start taking it in am. ...Read more
What time is best to take Zoloft (sertraline) for anxiety morning or night? Would taking it at night lose its effect by morning time?
AM vs PM: Zoloft (sertraline) is considered to be neither activating nor sedating. I recommend a patient start taking zoloft (sertraline) in the am (with food to promote absorption). If one becomes sleepy or tired later in the day I move it to bedtime. I don't start a medication at night that could induce insomnia you would have an upset patient in the am. After taking zoloft (sertraline) for several days you will have 24 hour coverage. ...Read more
I know taking vyvansa and Zoloft (sertraline) is bad. What if I took vyvansa in the morning and Zoloft (sertraline) at night? Would Zoloft (sertraline) help with not feeling the crash?
Please ask doctor: The best and most proper response from anyone to a question on changing medications which are prescribed is that you need to check with the provider who prescribed them. They know your particular situation and if there'd be a problem with your switching things around. Nobody here has that knowledge. You may write other questions to me at: www. Healthtap. Not hard: Take the morning zoloft (sertraline) on day 1 as usual. Then wait until evening to take zoloft (sertraline) on day 2. The benefit of an ssri such as zoloft (sertraline) will not "wear off" by the minor delay during the switch, nor would a discontinuation syndrome happen that fast. Taking the first evening dose on the same day as the last morning dose would be more apt to cause a small overdose situation and temporary side-effects. ...Read more

I started taking 25mg of zoloft (sertraline) at night, but I noticed it kept me awake, how should I go about changing the dose to take it in the morning?
25 mg is a low dose: So shift by taking it in the morning if it is causing no other adverse effects. If you wish to be more gentle in the shift it is fine to cut it in half and split it up for morning and afternoon administration the first day and then proceed with taking it in the morning the second day. It is important to take only 25 mg a day until prescriber makes change as this guides TX. Best regards. ...Read more

I take Zoloft (sertraline) 25mg in the morning. Is it OK to take NightRest™ With Melatonin at night?
Yes.: Nightrest is GABA, short for Gaba-aminobutyric acid which is an inhibitory neurotransmitter with Melatonin. If you are on the right dose of Zoloft (sertraline), (sertraline) you may not need to take a sleeping medication. The Zoloft (sertraline) may also cause daytime sedation so it might be to take it after supper. ...Read more

Help!!! Forgot to take my morning Zoloft (sertraline) dose all day now its almost night, do I just not worry & take it in the morning? I've never missed a dose!
No worries: The half life of this medication is more than one day. If you miss one dose after being on it for a couple of weeks or more missing a dose will not cause problems. Ask your doctor His/her preference if this occurs again. ...Read more

Taking Zoloft (sertraline) @ night for 11 days. Wake up very anxious. Okay to skip dose tonight? Have exam in morning & want to avoid anxiety. Will take later.
Half-life = 1 day: Especially if you think it will help, you should be okay. But don't make it a practice. Do discuss options w/ your Dr - that's a rough side effect! Please consider CBT as an addition or alternative - research is clear on this for optimal help. You'll still have half in you so don't take an extra dose, just wait till evening. Best! ...Read more

Ask your Doctor: Are you having a problem with the current way you are taking your medication? If not, why change? If you are having a problem, don't you think you should discuss it with your prescribing physician.? I usually recommend that zoloft (sertraline) be taken in thr morning, as it can make it harder to fall asleep. Less commonly, zoloft (sertraline) makes patients tired, that's when I say to take it at night. Good luck. ...Read more
I take my Zoloft (sertraline) in the morning and sleepaids at night. Can't sleep will the insomnia go away in time.
What sleep aids?: I don't know how long you've been on zoloft, (sertraline) or what sleep aids mean. Sleep disturbance is often part of depression, and improves as depression remits. Zoloft (sertraline) requires at least 4-6 weeks -- and often longer -- to show its effects. Risperdal is an antipsychotic and not really a sleep aid; can help with psychotic depression or bipolar. Your own psychiatrist will be better able to answer you on this. ...Read more
I am constantly tired on zoloft (sertraline). I currently take it in the morning, is it possible if I switch to take it at night this will help with fatigue?
It could: If zoloft (sertraline) makes you sleepy or fatigued, taking it at night may decrease this effect. Tiredness and fatigue can also be symptoms of depression, though. Not knowing how you were before beginning the medication, it's hard to know which is happening (ongoing depression or side effects from zoloft (sertraline)). Best to speak with your physician so s/he can advise you better. ...Read more
I take Zoloft a.M.Plus wellbutrin 150 in the morning and at night. I travel a lot and cannot always obtain wellbutrin. Friends have advised effexor (venlafaxine).?
Do not listen: To friends. Effexxor and wellbutrin work on different parts of the brain. You can not substitue one for the other. If you miss a dose of wellbutrin you will not have ill effects of withdrawal. If you missed medications on several days of either zoloft or Effexor (venlafaxine) you would. You should stick with the wellbutrin especially if it is working with you. There is a vacation override to get enough for trav. ...Read more
I'm prescribed 100mg of Zoloft and 1mg of klonopin. Can I take the Zoloft at dinner time and the klonopin at bedtime. I am currently taking 50mg Zoloft in the morning and 50 at night. The 50mg in the morning makes me very sleepy?
On vyvanse 40mg and just had 1st zoloft 25mg last night. Had insomnia and diarrhea last night. Should I take it PM again or should I try morning?
Morning dosing.: Zoloft is a serotonin increasing agent, via the blockade of transporters in the nerve nets that remove it from the synapse. Also it does this to a lesser extent with dopamine, thus increasing that neurotransmitter. The GI tract is heavily innervated by serotonin and many people develop diarrhea or other GI symptoms from it. Also taking it at night is a bad idea due to increased dopamine. ...Read more

Can I take Buspar (buspirone) one dose in the morning with Zoloft because make insomnia to night?
3 times a day: While there is no specific contraindication to taking Buspar (buspirone) with Zoloft, the usual caution applies to medications in combination. The side effects can be more frequent and more intense than with one medication alone. Buspar (buspirone) should be taken three times a day.
