My doctor just upped my dosage on Zoloft (sertraline) today to 200mg (social anxiety)..It hasn't worked for 3 months, so if this doesn't work, what should I try?
Social anxiety: Different people respond differently to same medication. If not already doing so, cognitive behavior therapy in conjunction with medications is most helpful for your anxiety. I am diagnosed with severe OCD. Doc put me on Zoloft (sertraline) 300mg QD and Anafranil 75mg OD. My question is that, this is a normal dosage to tackle anxiety???
OCD: Use of higher doses of anti-depressants such as zoloft (sertraline) is effective for OCD. The Anafranil dose if moderate but could cause an interaction with the very high dose of zoloft (sertraline). Contact your doctor if you experience any side effects chills, diarrhea, muscle pain, excessive sweating, agitation. ...Read more
After stopping Cymbalta (duloxetine) 60mg my dr gave me 25mg zoloft for anxiety/ocd. Says it will not cause weight gain at this dosage. I gained on cymbalta (duloxetine)..?tx
Weight Gain: I hope this works for you. Time will tell. I find my patients seem to eventually gain weight on these medications regardless of the dose. Wellbutrin (bupropion) is the only antidepressant that seems not to contribute to weight gain. However, this medication might be appropriate for you. I hope you will not be offended by my suggestion: Perhaps this could be a good time to increase your activity level. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Doing pretty well with Zoloft; just upped from 100 to 150mg; feeling a bit anxious &jittery; normal for a dose increase? Taking for anxiety
Taking Zoloft (sertraline) @ night for 11 days. Wake up very anxious. Okay to skip dose tonight? Have exam in morning & want to avoid anxiety. Will take later.
Half-life = 1 day: Especially if you think it will help, you should be okay. But don't make it a practice. Do discuss options w/ your Dr - that's a rough side effect! Please consider CBT as an addition or alternative - research is clear on this for optimal help. You'll still have half in you so don't take an extra dose, just wait till evening. Best! ...Read more

Yes: Doses of antidepressants like zoloft (sertraline) needed for symptom control can vary from person to person, and from time to time in their lives. How long does it take for higher dose of Zoloft to kick in? Went from 75 to 100 bc of bad anxiety. Been taking Xanax for 3 weeks now and want to stop.
Within a few days: Zoloft (sertraline) has a half-life of 26 hours, so the dosage adjustment will "kick in" in a few days at most. You don't mention your dosage of Xanax (alprazolam) but if you want to stop this drug, talk with your doctor about tapering the dose. Both Xanax and Zoloft have warnings about sudden discontinuance -- can trigger withdrawal symptoms that are unpleasant. Consider CBT therapy for anxiety ...Read more
I have been on 100mg Zoloft (sertraline) for a month for anxiety. I don't think i feel better and i might even be depressed? Do i need to increase the dose?
Talk w/your doctor: Are you working with a psychiatrist who prescribed the zoloft (sertraline)? It and other antidepressants require at least 4-6 weeks' trial for effectiveness. You may need a higher dose, but you need to discuss this with your own doctor who knows you much better than we on healthtap do. Please also avoid the alcohol since it can dysregulate your sleep and mood. ...Read more
