What to do if i just started taking Zoloft (sertraline) and i was wondering if its ok to have alcohol?

Not advised: Drinking on an ssri antidepressant can make depression or anxiety persist ("fighting" the treatment), & increases seizure risk. The med can also make alcohol feel stronger, impairing driving & similar activities more than expected. The standard rule: avoid all alcohol. That said, people use ssris for months or years, & some use alcohol occasionally in small amts & are ok. Weigh the risks. ...Read more
