Hot Flashes: By far, the most common side effect is hot flashes, because Lupron (leuprolide) causes a temporary menopause. Poor sleep resulting in emotional side effects or head ache are also common. A serious effect from long-term Lupron (leuprolide) is osteoporosis. Many of these side effects are reduced or eliminated with extra "add-back" hormones. Some women have no side effects at all. ...Read more

Usually Mild: When i treat patients with Depo-Provera Lupron (leuprolide) (for instance for endometriosis) i usual;y use add back therapy, this is a second medicine used to prevent the side effects from lupron (leuprolide). The addback usually reduces or gets rid of any hot flashes, any vaginal dryness, or any mood swings. So in this way i usually prevent side effects from ever occurring. ...Read more

Oncologist recommends zoladex (goserelin) to be injected, given the side effects, is it worth it?
Yes: This assumes the reasons for advising the medicine are valid. With that in mind the answer is yes, overwhelmingly. Also, there are no "side effects" to zoladex (goserelin), (goserelin) only "effects". The goal of zoladex (goserelin) is to lower testosterone levels. Low levels result in a predictable set of issues over time. Side effects (unexpected problems) do not happen w/ zoladex (goserelin). Only the expected! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

How long does it take for zoladex (goserelin) injection to work IV had it 10 days ago and still in pain with cyst on ovaries?
IV ZOLADEX (goserelin)???: I do not think that zoladex (goserelin) IV is a currently used treatment for a painful ovarian cyst. Without details as to size and an ultrasound exam showing the cyst's characteristics, i cannot recommend treatment. A painful clear ovarian cyst can be aspirated with ultrasound transvaginal guidance and the pain should go away within a few hours, if not sooner. Hope this info helps! ...Read more

My daughter had a pituitary gland disorder as a child which resulted in a precocious puberty ... She stopped her zoladex injections at twelve and she is now 21 ... For the past 6 years she has suffered form acute anxiety and panic lasting for days there h
Anxiety DO: There is no reason the precocious puberty and zoladex (goserelin) treatment are directly related to anxiety, at least as a pharmacologic (drug) effect. It's possible that her experience and worries from that time are affecting her, it also may be unrelated. Evaluate with a counsellor or a good primary doctor for panic/anxiety do, and best of luck. ...Read more
