Can you take zofran (ondansetron) when you are taking sertraline 50mg daily. Taking zofran (ondansetron) for stomach flu?

If prescribed for u: If you have a prior rx for zofran, (ondansetron) and handled it ok when you took it, yes, you could take it for the stomach flu. However, we are assuming stomach flu and not other potential diagnoses only a doctor could make. Yes and No: It's normal to have the symptoms you are having when you have the stomach flu. If you are able to keep liquids down, then you just have to let the diarrhea pass, don't take any medication for the diarrhea. If you cannot keep liquids down (juice, water, etc.) then you need to go to urgent care or doctor for IV fluids. Very easy to get dehydrated when pregnant. I'm on IVIG once every 4 wks, 2 Zofran (ondansetron) daily. These are because of my MG. NOW household has respitory & stomach flu. Possible meds will "prevent" me?
Probably a dumb question, but I take two doses of ODT Zofran (ondansetron) daily due to disease and nausea. Does this help protect me from vomiting from stomach flu?
Not Dumb! It helps.: Zofran (ondansetron) helps with nausea and vomiting from many causes. So if you are taking it for chronic nausea, it will also affect the nausea from an acute gastroenteritis (stomach bug). It's a good question! I live in Sweden and My doctor gave me zofran (ondansetron) to take when I get the stomach flu to take away vomiting. Do zofran (ondansetron) help? Scared of vomit, panic!
Good for vomiting.: If you are questioning the efficacy of Zofran (ondansetron) for vomiting, I can tell you that it's very good for that. What I don't approve of is the indiscriminate treatment of vomiting or nausea without a doctor's close supervision. Vomiting is a symptom, which can be caused by many diagnoses. More info needed: It's difficult to offer advise in this case as the symptoms involved are not clear. The above drug is used to treat nausea and vomiting after chemo or radiation. Of note is the drugs side effects which can be mild (diarrhea, constipation) to severe (hallucinations, coma) and drug interaction with other drugs (anti-epileptics or TB drugs). Usually none: Stomach flu is usually caused by a virus. There are many viruses that can cause it, and they are quite contagious.
