Swelling in my hands fingers since yesterday and I sometimes fell itching or heat in them I have flu and I take azithromycin and dexamine?

You may be allergic: And at any rate Azithromycin is NOT NEEDED or helpful for flu. If you are still taking it, stop. Consider Benadryl if needed for itching and swelling. Good luck.

Dr said I have the flu with no tests? Also I got a antibiotic shot and a steroid shot? Also got prescription for Tamiflu (oseltamivir), azithromycin and promethazi

Interesting program: Office flu tests are not 100% accurate, are expensive, and some insurers will not pay me for doing them (my loss).I feel better using the label after testing or if you're the 10th I've seen that day with the same pattern and all the others had + tests. I use Tamiflu (oseltamivir) in the 1st 48 hrs of illness, but no steroids or antibiotics unless another problem is detected. Fluids & rest is the best treatment

Sinus infection: Sinus infections can sometimes be challenging to get better. Here are some suggestions. Take the prescribed medicines you outlined. If you are still having symptoms after completing the antibiotics, contact your doctor as you may need additional medicine. Other things you can do including saline rinses, humidifier, nasal decongestants, nasal steroids among others. Saline rinses are effective.

Finish and see: Since you just started a course of antibiotics wait and see if it clears up with the zithromax. If it doesn't you will need to be reevaluated by your physician.

My daughter who is now 10mnths has been getting fever for the last 3 days. Did a blood test. Wbc was 26.19 On Zithromax now. Looks weak! Why?

Go to the hospital: zithromax alone won't help, your child need to be seen asap and probably more antibiotics intravenous and other medicines, good luck

Is it safe to be on a 7 day course for zithromax for bacterial chest infection (500 mg a day)? Mild fever persists after first 3 days of the course

Is it safe to be on a 7 day course for zithromax for bacterial chest infection (500 mg a day)? Mild fever persists after first 3 days of the course

YES, SAFE: Zithromycin, unless allergic is a good choice for a wide spectrum antibiotic, very commonly used for upper respiratory infections. In addition 500 mg is a quite large dosage. Antibiotics take some time to work. Your wife should just now be turning the corner if it is a bacterial infection suited to this antibiotic. If not, it may be viral or needs a different antibiotic. Good luck!

Inform your Doctor: The doctor who gave you treatment with zithromax should be informed about your present condition. A repeat chest x-ray may be useful to check your pneumonia to see if it is better or worse. It does take a couple of weeks for the pneumonia to resolve. But your doctor would like to know the results of his treatment on you.

I have been to the doctor for a suspected sinus infection. I was given zithromax, which I finished with no improvement & a continued fever past 2weeks?

Sinus infection: I would recommend you speak with your physician and let them know that your symptoms have not responded to zithromax. I would also recommend doing sinus rinses and may have a infection that is resistant to zithromax. A culture obtained from the nose may hold the key.

Pneumonia-whats wrong if after 3days of taking zithromax antibiotic, the fever never subsides. It still ranges 38.3-39.5°c.&still has shoulder-back ache?

? drug resistant: Under circumstances, do not delay, and contact your doctor immediately. Not every infection responds to an antibiotic, and you might have a drug resistant organism or even a problem secondary to a viral organism. Since you are not responding, you need attention now.

No: You need to see his pediatrician or an allergist, he might have bronchospasm (narrowing of the airways), which can be controlled by nebulized medicines, more important though is rest of history, environmental history, smokers around your child, etc., good luck

My 7yrs old has scarlet fever and the doctor gave her zithromax. She has finished all her medication, but still has a rash, headache, and fever?

My 7yrs old has scarlet fever and the doctor gave her zithromax. She has finished all her medication, but still has a rash, headache, and fever?

Strep test?: Was a strep test done? Sometimes rashes and fevers are caused by viruses, and antibiotics don't work. Sometimes something that looks like scarlet fever can be caused by a similar germ called staph. If that's the case, a different antibiotic might be necessary. Whether the test was done or not, the persistence of symptoms despite antibiotics suggests the need for further investigation.

My son has fever since monday. Reached39.9c maximum. Crp level is 23mg/l.Started zithromax yesterday. Paediatrician said his ear is mildly infected.

Persistent hi fever: Despite antibiotics could mean overlapping viral/ bacterial infection as well, wrong diagnosis or not the drug of choice for that " bacterial infection".When dealing w kids, always good to know age & weight. It helps pediatricians greatly w diagnosis, treatment, decision making & urgency of the matter! Alternate tylenol (acetaminophen) w Motrin every 4 hrs for fever and comfort. Ff up if no better in 2-3 days.

Daughter was diagnosed with UTI given 5 days of Zithromax 500 MG. 102 fever 4 days, back pain, nausea. Concerned kidney infection. Will Zithromax work?

Not if worsening: Call pcp or proceed to the ER. Need appropriate treatment immediately. Agree kidney infection or complicated/infected kidney stone are possible; but also pelvic inflammatory disease and some other possibilities.

My son has a sore throat and a fever, will zithromax 250mg be ok for a 9-year old boy weighing 50 pounds?

My son has a sore throat and a fever, will zithromax 250mg be ok for a 9-year old boy weighing 50 pounds?

Maybe: But if it is a viral infection, as it most likely is, it will do no good and, remotely, some harm. Go to you md. Get a culture and a diagnosis.

Sore throat for 7 days, no fever, no rash, headache, mouth pain. Strep throat? Hiv? Started zithromax today.

Zithromax?: One further comment on the use of zithromax for upper respiratory tract infections. In 2000, a study of antibiotic efficacy for acute bacterial sinusitis demonstrated that azythromycin (zithromax) has no effect against nthi (non-typable hemophilus influenza). It is a very appropriate drug for some cases of lower respiratory infections. H.Flu is a very common cause of ear and sinus infections.
