My 8 month girl has diaper rash on outer part of vagina..applied zinc oxide and is still there..pls help? We tried not to put diapers anymore

See answer: Zinc oxide application may take some time to help. Diaper free time also helps. U may need to get an antifungal cream ( now a days available over the counter) like clotrimazole( LOTRIMIN) and try that. If these fail u shd see a pediatrician or a dermatologist and get a proper diagnosis to get proper treatment. ...Read more

19 mo old w/ yeast infection for 2 wks. Tried nystatin, monistat, clotrimazole, zinc oxide, triple paste, maloxx, & no diaper. Not working, its worse.

"diaper rash": A number of conditions cause so called "diaper rash." i wonder about the duration of treatment rendered since 6 different creams, independently or in combination, have been used in 2 weeks period. If no response to Nystatin was observed in a week, the child is unlikely to have yeast infection unless immunocompromised. Seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, and zinc deficiency are other possibilities. ...Read more

Oily hairdo: It won't actually cause any harm, so I certainly wouldn't do anything potentially harmful to remove it. A non-toxic shampoo is all I would recommend. Other than that, use barrettes or a ponytail band and add the story to your baby book. Best wishes. ...Read more

Hi there,  I'm making home-made diaper rash ointment with coconut oil, zinc oxide (25%), beeswax, and 5% v/v vitamin e.  Is the amount of vitamin e safe for topical use on infants?

Diaper rash: Vitamin E is pretty benign for infants. If you are using it tpically in a butt paste if should be pretty safe to use topically several times a day for even a week or more. It is a great treatment for rashes and scars. ...Read more
