Except deficiencies of vitamins, iron, thyroid, Are there blood values that need to be explored in the case of a diagnosis of chronic telogen effluvium?

Chronic telogen: By definition telogen effluvium is hair loss after significant stress to the body (ie pregnancy, bad infection). I would be looking for the cause of the stress on the body that is leading to the hair loss. The blood tests you described are appropriate. Is the diagnosis appropriate? Can geographic tongue be caused by a zinc deficiency?

Can geographic tongue be caused by a zinc deficiency?

No proven link: As far as I know there is no proven link. If you suffer from geographic tongue, try zinc supplements. It’s been suggested that a zinc deficiency
may be responsible for some incidences of geographic
tongue. Zinc supplements may lessen the effects of the
condition in this case but will not remove it completely. Run your own test and let us know the results. ...Read more

Diagnosed with telogen effluvium, what are the home remedies to cure te?

Diagnosed with telogen effluvium, what are the home remedies to cure te?

Hair Loss: There really aren't home remedies to cure telogen effluvium. This is a stress induced hair loss. Hopefully your doctor checked the appropriate lab studies to rule out things like anemia and thyroid disease. I find rogaine (minoxidil) for women the best treatment. It needs to be used twice a day and takes 4 to 6 months to see a difference. The good news is that you only need to treat until the hair loss stops. ...Read more

Does telogen effluvium and mild alopecia areata affect the hairline permanently?

Telogen effluvium: Because acute telogen effluvium is a reactive process, which resolves spontaneously, treatment usually is limited to reassurance. Any reversible cause of hair shedding, such as poor diet, iron deficiency, hypothyroidism, or medication use, should be corrected.Alopecia areata can be controlled with intralesional scalp cortisone injections. Your thyroid also needs to be checked. ...Read more

How can I distinguish between telogen effluvium and male pattern baldness?

How can I distinguish between telogen effluvium and male pattern baldness?

Easy: Male pattern baldness follows a predictable progression, advancing on the temples and crown as you get older. The more chest hair you're naturally blessed with, generally the faster you have hair loss. Teloven effluvium is unrelated, and is a patchy shedding of hairs often in particular areas. ...Read more

Why does telogen effluvium occur after getting over crash diets. Shouldn't the body make hairthicker instead of hair loss when we start eating healthy?

Very common: Any shock to the body (such as a crash diet) can trigger a telogen effluvium by interrupting the body's normal hair growth cycle. As your hair cycle returns to normal, and as you eat healthier, your hair will grow back. ...Read more

Does telogen effluvium get worse before it gets better? Experiencing it for 5-6 weeks, it used to be getting better but I think it's getting worse now

Does telogen effluvium get worse before it gets better? Experiencing it for 5-6 weeks, it used to be getting better but I think it's getting worse now

Post pregnancy?: Telogen effluvium is common after having a baby. The sudden change in hormone levels causes the hair follicles to shut down for a while. This will get better on its own, but hard to say exactly how long. Other causes: vitamin deficiency, some meds. Give it time; most likely hair will start to grow back soon. Treatment with Minoxidil may be used for severe cases. ...Read more

What causes chronic telogen effluvium in younger, premenopausal women and how is it treated? Can it be reversed and the hair regrown/thickened?

What causes chronic telogen effluvium in younger, premenopausal women and how is it treated? Can it be reversed and the hair regrown/thickened?

Many possible causes: Many types of stress including surgery, serious illness, childbirth, collagen vascular disease, and malnutrition can cause this. It can be slowly (3 to 4 months) by removing the inciting factors. It may also clear up on its own for unclear reasons. There are some differential diagnoses that must be considered to help rule out alternative diagnoses. Minoxidil is sometimes prescribed. ...Read more

How do I tell the difference between DHT crystals and hardened sebum. Rapid hair thin/loss in two months. Shrugged off as dandruff/telogen effluvium.

How do I tell the difference between DHT crystals and hardened sebum. Rapid hair thin/loss in two months. Shrugged off as dandruff/telogen effluvium.

You can't??: DHT (dihydrotestosterone) seems to play a significant role in the development of androgenic alopecia, but it would be very difficult to identify it, or to separate it from sebum, a surface skin layer of dead skin cells & debris. DHT is probably mixed in with the sebum. Oral medications such as finasteride can inhibit DHT/only approved for males. Topicals/shampoos benefit unsubstantiated. ...Read more

Hi! I'm 20 and I'm affected by androgenetic alopecia and telogen effluvium. Could serenoa repens not allow the growth in height? I take every day sereno

Not height growth: Most people reach their maximum height in their late teens. Without nutritional problems or chronic childhood illnesses, height is largely based on genetics and parental heights. Aside from eating right, exercising, sleeping well, and being happy, there's not much a child nor his doctor can do to increase height. By age 20 neither serenoa repens (saw palmetto) nor anything else will affect height. ...Read more
